“Diversity leads to better design” — Mike Monteiro
In the era of multichannel and seamless experiences, accessibility is one of the top requirements in the design of a product or a service. As designers, we are accountable for the impact of our work and we need to make sure that what we contribute to deliver is available to all, barrier-free and non-discriminatory. To do that, we made headway by gaining knowledge of visual impairments and existing tech aids.
We talked about that on November 22nd 2018, on our first Tangible Morning, an open-meeting where we hosted the Unione Italiana Ciechi (Italian Blind Association) from Ancona) and Universal Access. Together, we explored visual disabilities, assistive technologies and how to design accessible desktop and mobile (iOS and Android) apps.
